The process that is used for your training is a multi-step process that is not simply a "Here you go....!" methodology. We (you and I) first determine what it is you are wanting to get out of the training. What your goals are. What events or races you are targeting (if any). Essentially, what is your "Podium Finish". Your "Podium Finish" could simply be completing a century, not getting dropped at races or winning races.
Your plans are not "canned" plans from a pre-built template! Each plan is custom built for you-from scratch!
We (you and I) then determine what it is that is currently holding you back from your goals. Are you training too much or too little. Are you not doing the right types of workouts. Are you doing the right types of workouts, only at the wrong times. Does your goal event have a lot of climbing in it, but you don't climb well. You and I will focus in on specific areas of training.
Because so much of achieving top performance is mental, I not only want to focus on getting your physical training done-I also want to help clear mental obstacles that are holding you back. These obstacles could be (but not limited to): too heavy, too old, too busy, not enough time, don't do well, not gifted.... To help with this, I encourage each athlete gets enrolled into the Mental Fitness Challenge. This isn't a bunch of memory games. The Mental Fitness Challenge was designed to help people deal with the "mental noise" that resides in each of our heads. The materials (16 c.d.s, 3 books, web videos) will help each athlete eliminate negativity (I can't), overcome adversity (it's hard), train your subconcious mind for positive results and not negative results, etc. From personal experience from 20 plus years of competing, I can tell you that a person can be in the best shape ever and not perform because of mental weeds (negativity) inside of the head. By using the materials (I listen to the materials while out on rides or driving to races), you'll help clear the way for successes in your fitness life and in your personal life!
We then will determine how much you can realistically train. What equipment you have at your disposal to use for training. Unique training obstacles (work, etc) that need to be dealt with. Once this is determined, we can put your plan into action.
A training program isn't a one time shot. Granted, a road map is put in place and a tentative map is outlined. But, sometimes on road trips, obstacles, closures, hazards, etc. must be dealt with and in dealing with these there is sometimes a deviation from the planned route. Each day you will receive, via e-mail, your training for that day and for the next day. As you log your training in, I receive a notice and I can view what you've done. There is a place where you can write in how you felt, what happened, etc. From here, I can make the necessary adjustments to your plan to keep you moving forward.
